Another doable 70k task round the local area. Azure - Boussons - Hongrie - Sisteron - Campsite.

Take off was a bit iffy today and some were going from the South and some from the North - horrible conditions and noone was up for leaving the hill. Eventually at half 2, the first pilots left on the North and I quickly followed. Had an awful takeoff and was lucky to get away with not killing myself considering the 300 metre vertical drop over the ridge edge. I nearly dinged a wing in on takeoff which would of been catasrophic. Got away with it though and scared the shit out of all the other pilots including my dad.
subsequently, noone else took off from that spot and everyone used the higher launch which was much safer.

After the big scare
I was following the leading gaggle and was about a grand below them before they left cloudbase on a glide to st. Geniez.
I tried following but lost them straight away with my sheehite glide. It was a case of finding my own thermals again which I maged to at st. geniez but again couldn't break throguh the inversion to cloudbase so was scratching about a 100oft over st. geniez for half an hour.
Scraped round the corner and sawsomeone climbing on the far NorthWest face. Quickly got into Yans thermal and got to cloudbase no sweat. Then left before him and went on a glide to Azure which was a task with the headwind. Losta fair bit of height and was about 1500 ft above Azure at this point. The next turnpoint was 10k downwind from here along the ridge so I hopped along trynna find lift all the way but again it was real patchy.

Made it to Bousse about a grand above hoping to find a nice thermal to take me to cloudbase again but it was a no go. Clawed around for 20 minutes trynna get what lift I could but it wasn't to be so I ended up landing near Monitier Allemont in some field by the main road surrounded by big trees.
Dad landed at Plan deau again.
Later I found out that I shoulda glid further round the South side of the hill as thermals were kicking of there but heinsights always good. I should of also got to the turnbpoint and gthen gone for Hingrie on a glide and hope to cath something in the Valley and then I woulda finished around8th. Instead I finished 11th again for the day and standing at 12th overall.
Another great day and a really enjoyable flight even though my harness was killing me.
